Ext. Lake Como
In lieu of traveling to Italy, we transformed the Pico House district of downtown Los Angeles into Lake Como. Since Pico house and the surrounding buildings are historic
landmarks, we were not allowed to attach anything to the buildings in a way that was invasive to the historic nature of the structures. For our gelateria, we built an entire facade to
cover up the existing building because red brick was not a material commonly used in this region of Italy. To further transform the street, we designed and fabricated custom signage,
awnings, umbrellas, and printed murals. A final layer of set dressing, greens, and picture cars transformed our LA location into an Italian commercial district.
Int/Ext Wuhan Train Station
An expansive location which underwent a graphics overhaul to become a Wuhan train station. Precise timing was also needed to turn an Amtrak train car into a Chinese train line; we
were only given an hour before shooting to skin three train cars with custom vinyls.
